From 16 to 22 September, spiritssEUROPE’s members joined forces for the #RoadPolSafetyDays, showcasing their unwavering commitment to road safety and responsible alcohol consumption. Here’s a roundup of their impactful initiatives, reinforcing the message that #ZeroMeansLife behind the wheel:
- Austria: Since 2017, Austria’s “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign has encouraged safer choices, collaborating with Bolt Taxi to offer €10 vouchers at over 160 bars, ensuring patrons can enjoy a safe ride home.
- Poland: Polski Przemysł Spirytusowy launched the “Alkohol. Zawsze odpowiedzialnie” campaign, harnessing the power of social media to promote sober driving.
- Bulgaria: The campaign “The Bill You Don’t Want To Pay” in Bulgaria, run in partnership with the police and the Red Cross, highlighted the real costs of drunk driving, distributing fake receipts during traffic stops to raise awareness.
- Spain: Espirituosos España’s “Noc-turnos” campaign rewarded sober drivers with €20 fuel coupons after passing breathalyser tests, reinforcing the value of designated drivers.
- Malta: The Sense Group in Malta continued their road safety communications, promoting the importance of taking public transport after drinking with their “Arrive Alive… Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign.
- Romania: SpiritsRomania worked closely with authorities to spread awareness, combining media outreach with their campaign against drink driving.
- Slovakia: A creative collaboration between Slovak authorities, Bolt, and OMV gas stations saw 155,000 stickers distributed, each featuring a QR code linking to a quiz on responsible alcohol consumption.
- Greece: ENEAP’s “Rethink Drink” campaign focused on media outreach to drive home the importance of sobriety behind the wheel.
- Germany: BSI's DDAD Academy in Germany featured interactive driving simulations, demonstrating to students in vocational training schools how alcohol impairs the driving ability.
- Ireland: Drinkaware.ie provided an innovative Drinks Calculator, allowing users to track their alcohol consumption and understand how long it takes before it’s safe to drive again.
