This November marks the launch of the very first United in Moderation Award, created to celebrate the creativity and dedication of university students in designing responsible drinking campaigns.
Since 2018, students have been taking part in the University Programme, an initiative first pioneered in Spain. The programme challenges students to design their own responsible drinking campaigns, guided by key principles of moderation and responsibility. Recognising its success, other associations across Europe adopted the programme. To date, more than 3,600 students from 20 universities and young people from one youth centre have taken part, representing seven countries.
To build on this momentum and to honour students’ impressive achievements, spiritsEUROPE will host the inaugural United in Moderation Award ceremony in November 2025. This Award will recognise the most outstanding campaigns of the year, with entries submitted by the winning teams from all participating organisations. We were thrilled to receive 16 submissions from 6 countries: Bulgaria (3), Croatia (2), Italy (4), Latvia (1), Slovakia (1), and Spain (5). The creativity, passion, and quality displayed in these campaigns have been truly inspiring.
The entries are in the hands of a great jury, made up of Louis Brau, representation of the European Students Union (ESA); Ian McLernon from Rémy Cointreau and President of spiritsEUROPE; Charley Stoney, head of the European Association of Communication Agencies, MEP Zala Tomašič from Slovenia, Prof. Dr Guido van Hal from the University of Antwerpen and Loïc Ducouret, @ProfTitube, Influencer in France. Together, they have te difficult task to evaluate each campaign on originality & creativity, replicability & scalability, impact on promoting responsible drinking among young adults, and their personal “Coup de Coeur”. The jury has made his decision and it was not easy...
The top three teams will be invited to the European award ceremony taking place on 19 November 2025. On the night, one team will be crowned the winner of the United in Moderation Award for the 2024/2025 academic year.
